trans- figured/trans- formed

There is transfiguration and then there is transformation

…they are not the same.

Jesus’ life tells us about this…
High up on the mountain, alongside Moses and Elijah,

Jesus glowed with glory… trans-figured in wonder, larger than life…

but this was not to last.

He knew what glory really meant; that he was to carry this blessing below.

       Trans-formed, resolved, determined

to make a real difference for others, he lived, taught, healed, cared, suffered and died.

Day by day Jesus still descends into the deep spaces we occupy; that we may learn to live like him.

Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white.  Matthew 17:1-2
