When have you found yourself in awe
of your surroundings
at the world around you
the stars above, the earth not below,
maybe even that caterpillar at your feet?
The earth is Yours, Lord
and the fullness thereof;
full of ecstasy, joy and sorrow;
dandelions, volcanoes and splashes
of rain against the windowpane.
Your love sustains it all, from speck to sun to soul.
In a stolen moment of gratitude for this world,
glimpsed, felt, heard
shall we know the earth
and the earth’s Lord
Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in Christ all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers—all things have been created through Christ and for Christ. Christ is and was before all things, and in Christ, all things hold together.
